The life of an Agent never quite suited you, but here you are. When you were read stories about Knights in shining armor, fearsome dragons and damsels in distress, you always thought yourself the damsel. Maybe it was all those bad relationships you'd endured for far too long in your youth. You daydreamed often of True Love while tending to your bruises, and that special someone who could make all the bad things in the world go away and give you your happily ever after.

But those things never came. Not how you imagined. Life is messy, and people are messier. You never saw yourself as the Knight saving damsels. While you don't take this opportunity for granted (Lord knows what Calendar sees in you), and do your best to be goodness in the world, the armor never quite seems to fit.

You are the world’s most dangerous spy. You’re not a fan of the title– it has put a target on your back, mostly. Talent does that. Thankfully, you have been up to the task for a very long time, as Hive has been your home. You have worked your way up to your Royal position through performance, but more importantly, loyalty. You have always done as told… and that’s it. You did not question orders from up top, and you are smart enough to know that this is in large part why you have the position that you do.

However, with things changing around the agency, for the first time you have wondered what it is that you are really doing here– and whether you are loyal to The Hive, or to the people in The Hive. Those are starting to be two different things. You wish the situation was less complicated, even if only because that would make things easier for you. In the beginning, it was about helping the world– but you think your morals have warped to be about helping the Hive, over time. What is your responsibility to the world, when you are its most dangerous weapon?

You’ve busted your ass to get to where you are. You are no stranger to hard work, and all of the bureaucracy that it takes to get anything done– you are a seasoned New York cop who in recent years made the cut for Detective. The amount of hoops that you have to jump through just to help people has really worn you down, so when a special agency reached out to you, you thought it was a dream come true. Finally, you would be with people united in a common goal for world peace and security, and you’d be able to roll up your sleeves and get to work. Nothing matters more to you than leaving this world a lot better than you found it.

So, when you arrive and find out that super-agents have drama, red tape, and office politics too, you are pretty fucking fed up.

Life in the big house wasn’t for you. Lucky enough, The Hive’s got you your ticket out, and, hell, why not? You were looking at a lengthy sentence but, if you finish your time with the Hive, you’ve been promised to get it waived. Still, the damned thing hangs over your head, and even though the Hive’s never explicitly threatened you with it, it’s more than enough motivation to keep your ass in line. Plus, you may even see your daughter, again.

Lately, you have been having trouble sleeping. And when you do, you’ve found that sometimes you wake up in places you don’t recognize. That you have no memory of walking to. It hasn’t been a problem yet, but it's been getting worse lately.

Queen Bee has recruited a rookie cop to the agency, and given her the promotion that you have been working towards for almost a decade. You have always prided yourself in your ability to keep your temper under control– something that was hard won, for you, but you’ve spent years distancing yourself from friendships, relationships, throwing pity-parties for yourself and what a martyr of self-control you were in the name of professionalism, and this is how the Hive has chosen to repay you. You’re furious about what you’ve sacrificed to get here, and if you don’t get the answers you like, you’re ready to blow the house down.

Why did you join The Hive, anyway? Was it to make the world a better place, to help people you couldn’t normally help? Maybe there was a bit of egotism to it, after all. You don’t know. All you know is that you’ve dedicated so much time to this place, and in recent years, you don’t know if you’re doing what you set out to do after all. The Hive has become nearly unrecognizable. You used to close your eyes at night pretty restfully, knowing you’d done all you could do, and these days it just keeps getting harder to sleep.

You want to help people. You never thought that was something you had to explicitly feel or state, but the new recruits that have been coming in have made you second guess that. You feel like you have to stick to the Handbook and uphold some semblance of the old Hive. The one that cared about who it hurt and how it went about things. You know you can still save it.

For that reason, there was always something that separated you from your fellow agents, the way a scientist might feel living amongst their research subjects. Sure, the other agents might not have realized how deep in this shit they were, but you did. You know everything there is to know about secret organizations. You have always told yourself that you weren’t going to get too involved with things, so that you could keep yourself separate from your research.

You never wanted to let this place get to you– and it didn’t… until now.
